Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying Leads a Delegation to Senegal

Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying led a delegation to visit Dakar, the capital of Senegal, on 16 January, where they met with the Minister of Health and Social Action, Dr. Ibrahima SY. Both parties discussed the implementation and outcomes of GX's "Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme" in the country and held in-depth discussions on vector-borne disease control. The delegation also met with the Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba GUIRASSY, and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Cheikh Anta Diop University (Université Cheikh Anta Diop - UCAD), Prof. Bara NDIAYE, to discuss public health education, medical talent development, and future student internship exchanges, among other matters.

Beyond the capital, the delegation visited the project site in the city of Ndioum and the northwestern city of Saint-Louis. They met with regional health department representative Dr. Seynabou NDIAYE and Deputy Governor of Saint Louis Sidy Guissé DIONGUE to exchange views on the local public health landscape and explore potential areas of collaboration. In addition to visiting the current cohort of the Fujian medical team, the delegation also toured local markets and distributed sticky fly traps to street vendors, demonstrating through concrete action the importance of strengthening vector-borne disease control.
