Medical Care
At the heart of human dignity lies health: preventing suffering, restoring function, and empowering individuals to thrive within their communities. GX Foundation focuses on bridging the most critical gaps in underserved health systems through sustainable, high-impact interventions.
As global demographics shift towards ageing populations, humanitarian healthcare faces urgent challenges. “Healthy Ageing” is no longer just a priority but a necessity, ensuring seniors maintain independence through vision care, chronic disease management, and culturally sensitive support. Our programmes deliver evidence-based solutions tailored to local contexts, enabling communities to build resilience and well-being for all ages.
Cataract Blindness Elimination
Cataracts are the world’s leading cause of blindness, accounting for half of all visual impairment cases. Though treatable, this condition disproportionately affects elderly populations, with the greatest burden falling on under-resourced communities where eye care is scarce – a challenge growing more urgent as global populations age.
GX Foundation′s “Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme” (2022-2027) operates in five high-need countries: Cambodia, Laos, Djibouti, Senegal, and Mauritania. Combining immediate treatment with long-term capacity building, we:
- Eliminate existing cataract backlogs through free cataract surgeries, screenings, and eye examinations
- Strengthen local medical infrastructure and capacity through training of local healthcare personnel
- Partner with Chinese medical teams to perform sight-restoring surgeries that take just 20 minutes each to completel
- Collaborate with local health ministries, international health organisations, and Chinese enterprises
- Implement Mobile Eye Treatment Centres (METC) for remote access
As of May 2025, we've performed over 21,000 sight-restoring surgeries worldwide. By addressing both existing backlogs and systemic gaps in eye care, we're transforming lives and working towards our goal of eliminating cataract blindness in all project countries.

Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has long been valued for disease prevention, treatment, and health maintenance, making significant contributions to people’s well-being. To promote its development, we are systematically introducing TCM to our project countries. An important step in this effort is our recent MOU with the Ministry of Health of Djibouti, paving the way for TCM’s expansion overseas. As part of our international engagement, we facilitate exchange visits for foreign health delegations to Hong Kong and Mainland China. These visits include tours of leading TCM institutions, where delegates gain firsthand insight into how TCM is integrated into modern healthcare systems and developed into accessible health products.
In early 2025, a delegation from Honduras’ Ministry of Health visited Hong Kong and Beijing, where they observed TCM’s role in China’s medical and public health frameworks. Their itinerary featured meetings with academic, research, and public health institutions, as well as cultural experiences that highlighted the deep connections between TCM and Chinese heritage. These exchanges not only foster collaboration but also deepen global appreciation for TCM’s holistic value.
Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen international partnerships and promote TCM’s benefits worldwide.
