Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme: Since December 2022, GX has collaborated with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to dispatch 11 cohorts of medical teams to Cambodia. By June 2024, the programme successfully cleared Prey Veng Province’s cataract backlog, the first region to achieve this milestone. On 29 July 2024, a closing ceremony was held in Phnom Penh to mark the programme’s success in Prey Veng, followed by the signing of a new MOU with Cambodia’s Ministry of Health to expand operations to Kampong Speu Province, where work is now underway. To date, GX has conducted over 7,200 eye screenings and 5,200 cataract surgeries across Cambodia.

Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever: On 29 July 2024, GX signed an MOU with Cambodia’s Ministry of Health to launch its first project on vector-borne disease control measures in Cambodia. Targeting Kampong Speu Province as the project site, GX has donated 335 mosquito lamps, 395 bednets, 28,000 sticky fly traps, 8,750 rapid dengue test kits, and 12,000 posters and leaflets on dengue prevention. The donated materials have been distributed to all levels of health facilities, including 1 provincial hospital, 3 district hospitals, and 60 health centres. The donated materials were well-received, allowing health facilities to have the tools readily available to quickly identify dengue patients for treatment and to eliminate mosquitos that may transmit the disease from infected patients.

Djibouti

Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme: Since February 2023, GX has collaborated with the Health Commission of Shanxi Province to dispatch 5 cohorts of medical teams to Djibouti. Upon completion of the project in Djibouti City, its capital, the programme relocated to a China-aided hospital in the Tadjourah region in November 2024. The next cohort will return to Djibouti City with medical supplies, and the Mobile Eye Treatment Centres are already back in the city. The team will continue working towards eliminating backlog cases, restoring vision to more patients. To date, GX has conducted over 7,700 eye screenings and 4,600 cataract surgeries across Djibouti.

Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever:
Since 2021, GX has worked with the Ministry of Health of Djibouti by donating rapid antigen test kits in response to the country’s outbreaks. We have donated test kits for Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya, strengthening the health system’s capacity to respond to and manage health emergencies.

Traditional Chinese Medicine:
In 2024, GX and the Ministry of Health of Djibouti agreed to a partnership with the goal of bringing traditional Chinese medicine products into the country and promoting traditional Chinese medical knowledge and skills.

Honduras

Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever: As dengue cases surged, Honduras declared a state of emergency at the end of May 2024. The alarming increase in cases prompted the immediate dispatch of a GX team to assess the situation on the ground and coordinate our response efforts. In June 2024, we initiated the “Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever” in Honduras. Less than 3 months after the initial trip, our team returned to Honduras with essential supplies and resources to help control the dengue outbreak. We have dispatched 6 teams since March 2024, establishing a field office for ongoing project implementation and future student exchanges. In March 2025, the Honduran Ministry of Health jointly issued a statement with GX, highlighting how after the project’s launch, there was an 82% reduction in Honduras’ dengue cases in 2024’s Q4 compared to Q3. Moreover, case numbers returned to pre-emergency levels within 8 weeks after the peak.

Laos

Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme: Since September 2022, GX has collaborated with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to dispatch 10 cohorts of medical teams to Laos. Throughout the project, the site has relocated twice following the successful completion of each phase, moving to Luang Prabang and Champasak. As of May 2025, Laos became the first country to have its backlog of cataract blindness eliminated. To date, GX has conducted over 6,600 eye screenings and 5,800 cataract surgeries across Laos.

Disaster Resilience: In September 2024, Typhoon Yagi caused severe flooding in the northern part of Laos, resulting in significant damage and disruption, especially in Luang Namtha province. In response, we promptly dispatched a team to conduct a week-long post-disaster assessment and provide immediate assistance later that same month. GX also actively aided in the reconstruction of the laboratory at the Namtha District Hospital, which had been destroyed in the flood hence significantly undermining laboratory testing services to communities in the district.

Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever: Due to the increased risk of dengue outbreaks and other vector-borne diseases from the flooding, GX distributed mosquito lamps, rapid dengue test kits, and sticky fly traps to villages and medical institutions near Laos’ disaster-affected areas.

Senegal

Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme: Since October 2023, GX has collaborated with the Fujian Provincial Health Commission to dispatch 7 cohorts of medical teams to Senegal. The first phase of the project, located in the Fatick Region, was successfully completed in May 2025. The next phase will be launched in Ndioum City, where GX will become the first Chinese charitable organisation to establish operations. To date, GX has conducted over 6,400 eye screenings and 4,000 cataract surgeries across Senegal.

Timor-Leste

Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever: Timor-Leste is the first country where GX has implemented vector-borne disease control measures. In January 2024, with local government support, we launched the “Pilot Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever”. Our outreach efforts included nationwide visits to national hospitals, referral hospitals, and community health centres, delivering health services and educational programmes to enhance prevention and treatment. Despite a global surge in dengue cases in 2024, with Indonesia and Singapore seeing 2–3 times higher infections, Timor-Leste achieved a 10% reduction. Other key results include Timor-Leste achieving the lowest dengue infections in four years, with a 43% drop in Q1 2025 compared to 2024 and three regions reporting zero cases. These results were published in The Lancet in March 2025, validating the programme’s success.

Direct Potable Water Project: With 38% of Timor-Leste’s population lacking improved sanitation, access to clean water is critical in reducing waterborne diseases. In July 2024, we launched our inaugural Direct Potable Water Project, implementing them in churches and hospitals. We donated 100 water purification machines, installed by qualified technicians, to provide safe drinking water. These units are projected to supply over 400,000 gallons of potable water annually, save USD 800,000 in costs, and eliminate the need for 3 million single-use plastic bottles.

Youth Development Programme: Since 2024, we have partnered with the Catholic University of Timor-Leste (Universidade Católica Timor-Leste – UCT) to implement a Youth Development Programme. The first cohort of 31 students completed preparatory training in February and April 2025, engaging with local healthcare workers and beneficiaries to deepen their understanding of dengue control and water safety initiatives along with their communities

Vanuatu

Disaster Resilience: Vanuatu, the world’s most disaster-prone country, faces endemic dengue fever, recurrent malaria outbreaks, and frequent natural disasters, such as a devastating 7.3-magnitude earthquake in December 2024, which caused widespread destruction and displacement. With 80% of the population in rural areas, disasters exacerbate disease risks, straining healthcare systems. In response to the earthquake, GX provided emergency relief, medical equipment to Port Vila Hospital, and collaborated with local authorities on disaster response and disease prevention.

Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever: On 5 February 2025, GX signed a 2-year Memorandum of Understanding with Vanuatu’s Ministry of Health. This partnership launches the “National Malaria, Dengue Fever, and Other Vector-borne Disease Control Programme” (2025–2027). The initiative includes a pilot project running from March to July 2025. GX’s contributions encompass 75,000 bed nets, 40,000 sticky fly traps, 10,000 rapid dengue test kits, and 1,000 mosquito lamps to help reduce the spread of vector-borne diseases. GX will further amplify these efforts through two dedicated social media campaigns and the provision of 5,000 sets of health education materials. This comprehensive approach seeks to strengthen local public health prevention measures and enhance the resilience of Vanuatu's healthcare system.

Disaster Preparedness Kit Project: From April to July 2025, GX delivered 5,000 Disaster Preparedness Kits to rural communities in high-risk areas near Port Vila, including Saama, Takara, Melemaat, Mele, and Erakor. These kits are designed to help families prepare for natural disasters before they strike, providing essential tools such as water purification tablets, medical supplies, sanitation items, crank radios, and rescue ropes. Through this initiative, more than 25,000 residents now have better access to basic emergency resources, strengthening household preparedness and reducing the immediate health risks following cyclones, earthquakes, or floods. The project was implemented in close collaboration with local chiefs, health workers, and community volunteers, building long-term capacity for disaster resilience in Vanuatu’s villages.
