GX Foundation’s Chairman, LEUNG Chun Ying, and Ambassador WANG Wenbin visited Kampong Speu Province ahead of the launch of the "Project for Health Protection Against Dengue Fever"
The Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cambodian Ministry of Health at the end of July this year, to launch the “Project for Health Protection Against Dengue Fever” and the “Cataract Blindness Elimination Program” in Kampong Speu Province.
Chairman LEUNG Chun Ying and CEO Professor Emily CHAN Ying-yang visited Cambodia from August 26 to 27. During the visit, accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, WANG Wenbin, they met with the Governor of Kampong Speu Province and Health Department officials to discuss the details of implementing the two projects in the local area.
On the 26th, the visiting team first inspected the Oudong Referral Hospital and the Roung Roeang Health Center in Kampong Speu Province. They went to inspect the Foundation’s new project site at the Kampong Speu Referral Hospital and visited the Kampong Speu Public Chinese School. To ensure the safety of the medical team and the Foundation's colleagues on site, the team also inspected the future accommodation for the medical team and colleagues.
In addition, the Foundation team met with Dr. Sambath, Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Health, to discuss the implementation details of the projects. The Foundation team also visited the National Center for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control in Cambodia to get a deeper understanding of the local dengue situation.
On August 27, CEO Professor Emily CHAN Ying-yang, and MO Kun, Director and General Manager of Cambodia Jingang Expressway Co., Ltd., signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding on the “Project for Health Protection Against Dengue Fever” under the witness of Chairman LEUNG Chun Ying, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia WANG Wenbin, and YE Chengyin, Director and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of China Road and Bridge Corporation. The Foundation will donate mosquito control equipment to the stations along the expressway to help control the local dengue epidemic.
This is the Foundation's second “Project for Health Protection Against Dengue Fever” in large-scale public transportation infrastructure. In May of this year, the Foundation launched a similar project at 24 stations along the Laos and Yunnan sections of the China-Laos Railway.
