The “Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever” implemented by GX Foundation in Timor-Leste has achieved remarkable results, with related research published in the internationally renowned medical journal The Lancet. Mr. LEUNG Chun-ying, Chairman of GX Foundation, and Professor CHAN Ying-yang Emily, CEO of GX Foundation, met with Timorese President José RAMOS-HORTA to share these accomplishments, accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste WANG Wen-li on April 30.

Subsequently, they attended the “GX Foundation Timor-Leste Project Results Announcement & Water Purifier Handover Ceremony” and the “Youth Development Programme Inauguration Ceremony”, where the latest progress of the projects was unveiled. Following the implementation of GX’s dengue control measures, Timor-Leste recorded its lowest dengue infection numbers in four years (2022–2025) in Q1 2025, with over 85% of regions showing significant improvement—including five regions reporting zero cases, demonstrating the program’s outstanding effectiveness.

On the same day, GX announced the completion of the handover and installation of 100 water purification machines nationwide. These units are projected to supply more than 400,000 gallons of free potable drinking water annually, generate annual cost savings of USD800,000, and reduce plastic waste by eliminating the need for 3 million single-use plastic water bottles.
