GX Foundation Participates in Third China-Cambodia-Thailand Track II Dialogue, Advocating Health for Peace
The Third China-Cambodia-Thailand Track II Dialogue, hosted by China Foreign Affairs University, was held on 11 October at Aden Hotel Shenzhen Nanshan. Bringing over 100 participants from the 3 countries, including think tank scholars, representatives of social and humanitarian organisations, and university students, the dialogue focused on four key topics: International Law, Economic and Livelihood Issues, Public Health and Humanitarian Assistance, and Youth Exchanges.
GX was honoured to participate in the conference, where CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang, Emily, delivered a keynote address calling for the consensus reached during the previous two dialogues on humanitarian assistance, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) to be translated into concrete action. Drawing on GX’s frontline experience in Cambodia, she noted that basic public health interventions not only prevent and control diseases but also enhance the mental well-being and social welfare of displaced populations. She advocated a layered response approach in line with the international humanitarian MHPSS framework, underpinned by the principles of "assess-pilot-scale" and local ownership, and emphasised that health serves as a bridge connecting communities and fostering lasting peace.
GX's directors POON Yen-yen, Grace (Southeast Asia) and KWONG Ka-lok, Benny (Communications & Community), also contributed to discussions on Public Health and Humanitarian Assistance. At the Youth Exchange session, Mr. KWONG shared GX’s experience in implementing the Youth Ambassador Programme and expressed support for the Cambodia-Thailand Peace Youth Ambassador Programme, encouraging Hong Kong youth to participate and promote people-to-people connectivity.
