GX delegation departs for Pacific Islands to strengthen emergency response and celebrate Vanuatu's 45th Independence Anniversary
Today, a 35-member group comprising 18 Youth Ambassadors and university students, 9 volunteers, and 2 teachers set off on a journey to the Pacific Islands!
Since GX’s first visit to Vanuatu in December 2024, we've delivered 25 tons of essential medical equipment and supplies to bolster the country’s preparedness for health emergencies and disasters. In this trip, participants will expand efforts to strengthen local emergency response capacity in more villages, fostering "people-to-people connectivity" through direct engagement with communities. Activities include assessing local needs, visiting emergency shelters, distributing disaster preparedness kits (containing flashlights, hand-crank radios, whistles, and first-aid supplies), and delivering public health education.
The trip aligns with Vanuatu’s National Day on 30 July, marking the country’s 45th year of independence. China and Vanuatu have shared a steadfast partnership since 1982, with emergency disaster prevention, mitigation, and climate change response as key priorities. GX is honoured to celebrate this milestone alongside the Vanuatuan government and partners.
Beyond Vanuatu, select participants will visit Fiji to study local health conditions and engage in intercultural exchanges at Fiji National University. This mission reflects GX’s commitment to humanitarian assistance, youth development, and cross-cultural collaboration. We hope participants will gain great insight from this trip and look forward to their continued contributions in advancing healthcare resilience in Vanuatu and Fiji.
