Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying Meets Lao Minister of Health; Deepening Sino-Laotian Traditional Chinese Medicine Cooperation

From 16 to 18 September, Chairman CY LEUNG and CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang, Emily led a delegation to Laos to review local public health projects and the development of traditional Chinese medicine. During the visit, the delegation met with Laos' newly appointed Minister of Health, Dr. Baykham KHATTIYA. Chairman CY LEUNG detailed the achievements of GX's "Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme" and "Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever" in Laos. Minister Dr. Baykham KHATTIYA highly affirmed and praised GX's work, recognising these projects as significant contributions to Laos' healthcare sector.

 

Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on traditional Chinese medicine cooperation and enhancing youth health talent exchanges between the two countries. Minister Dr. Baykham KHATTIYA specifically expressed hopes to further promote the application and development of traditional Chinese medicine in Laos, benefiting more citizens. The delegation also met with Dr. Bounleuane DOUANGDEUANE, Director of the Traditional Medicine Research Institute.

 

Additionally, on 18 September, the delegation held working meetings with WHO Representatives in Laos – Dr. Timothy ARMSTRONG, Dr. Christopher FITZPATRICK, and Dr. Rita REYBURN – focusing on collaboration strategies and future directions for dengue fever prevention and control.
