Launch of the National Dengue Fever and Other Vector-Borne Disease Control Program in Tonga as Chairman LEUNG Meets with the Prime Minister of Tonga
Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying and CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang, Emily recently led a delegation to Tonga, where they met with Crown Prince Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala and Prime Minister Lord Fatafehi FAKAFANUA. Witnessed by Chairman LEUNG, Mr. Siaosi SOVALENI, Minister of Health of Tonga, and Mr. LIU Wei-min, Chinese Ambassador to Tonga, CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang, Emily and Dr. Reynold OFANOA, CEO of the Ministry of Health of Tonga, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the National Dengue and Other Vector‑Borne Disease Control Program, marking Tonga as GX's twelfth project country. GX will donate 2,000 mosquito lamps, 10,000 rapid dengue test kits, 3,000 bed nets and 100,000 sticky fly traps to Tonga and will provide relevant technical training in prevention and control.
During the visit, the delegation visited the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Tonga National University, Vaiola Hospital and Vaini Community Health Centre to assess the prevention and control facilities and clinical environment of primary healthcare. They also visited the Chinese medical team in Tonga and exchanged views on public health issues with teachers and students of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga and Queen Salote College.
GX will continue to deepen its cooperation with Tonga, implementing the spirit of the Joint Statement between China and Tonga to expand exchanges in healthcare, education and youth.
