The 79th World Health Assembly (WHA) opened yesterday in Geneva, Switzerland. On the same day, GX in collaboration with the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, held a side event titled "Keep It Simple – No Mosquito, No Dengue" at the InterContinental Geneva, promoting to the world the "China Solution" of using physical means to prevent and control vector-borne diseases. This event marks a historic first, with a Hong Kong-based charitable organisation hosting a side event at the WHA.

Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying noted in his address that GX's experience in physical vector control has been published twice by The Lancet, an internationally authoritative medical journal, and is worthy of global reference. Prof. SHEN Hong-bing, Vice Minister of the National Health Commission of China and Administrator of the National Bureau of Disease Control, and H.E. José RAMOS-HORTA, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, delivered a keynote speech and a video commendation message respectively. Prof. LO Chung-mau, Secretary for Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Prof. WANG Jian-wei, Director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, were also among the attendees.

During the session, senior representatives from the Ministries of Health of Laos, Cambodia, Timor Leste and Vanuatu, together with experts from the WHO and UN agencies, unanimously affirmed the effectiveness of this "China Solution" in resource-limited settings. Several GX Youth Ambassadors were fully engaged throughout the event, gaining first-hand insight into the workings of global health governance.
