On 22 September, Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying and CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang, Emily visited the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong to engage with medical students and faculty members.

Chairman CY LEUNG delivered an inspiring speech titled “Compassion in Medicine and Humanitarian Assistance”. During his talk, Chairman CY LEUNG introduced GX’s humanitarian medical projects across various countries, emphasising that a “healing hand” is not only a core value of the medical profession but also a bridge that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries. He encouraged young medical students to step beyond the classroom and actively participate in humanitarian work, fostering mutual understanding through hands-on experience.

The event also featured a sharing panel led by Prof. Emily CHAN and student representatives who had taken part in GX’s overseas field trips. They reflected on the challenges and rewards of delivering medical aid in diverse cultural settings and discussed how to find meaningful opportunities for humanitarian engagement amid the rigors of academic life. The atmosphere was vibrant and thought-provoking, inspiring deeper reflection on the mission and calling of being a “healer”.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. LAU Chak-sing, Dean of the HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, for his steadfast support of GX. Looking ahead, we remain dedicated to advancing the mission of humanitarian medicine and nurturing a new generation of empathetic doctors with a global perspective.
