Renewal of MOU with the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Commission

Collaborating with the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Commission, the first phase of the "Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme" in Mauritania has successfully concluded. CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang, Emily signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with Party Secretary of the Health Commission of Heilongjiang Province, LUAN Feng, today in Heilongjiang, regarding the relocation of the project to Kiffa. This signing was jointly witnessed by Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying, Secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Heilongjiang Provincial People's Congress, XU Qin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee and Governor of Heilongjiang Province, LIANG Huiling, and Chairman of the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, LAN Shaomin. Chairman LEUNG also awarded "Active Participation Awards" to 30 participating medical team members, in recognition of their dedication and service.

Since October 2023, the Heilongjiang Provincial Health Commission has dispatched 7 medical teams to Mauritania. By the end of last December, the first phase of the project had provided free eye screenings for over 8,000 patients and successfully performed 1,900 free cataract surgeries, receiving high praise from the local community.
