In collaboration with the Red Cross Society of China, GX held its fourth pre-departure and first aid training course in Beijing. The training prepared 48 medical personnel from four provinces or autonomous regions in mainland China - Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (assisting Laos and Cambodia), Shanxi Province (assisting Djibouti), Heilongjiang Province (assisting Mauritania), and Fujian Province (assisting Senegal) - before their departure for overseas missions.

The 3-day course, which began on March 10th, also included 11 GX colleagues from Hong Kong and, for the first time, 2 youth ambassadors from Peking University and Macau University of Science and Technology. Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying, CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang Emily, and Red Cross Society of China Vice President SUN Shuo-peng attended the opening ceremony held on March 11th.

Participants completed theoretical courses on first aid overview, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and trauma care, followed by practical assessments. All trainees earned internationally recognised first aid qualifications.

WANG Jie, a student from Peking University, shared that the simulation exercises challenged participants to respond to emergencies in remote, simulated environments. Despite the difficulty, the experience allowed him to apply what he had learned and highlighted the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and staying calm under pressure. ZHOU Hong, a chief physician from the Heilongjiang medical team assisting Mauritania, noted that the training equipped her with essential first aid skills, which will greatly enhance her overseas assistance work.
