Over 4,600 free cataract surgeries completed in Djibouti; collaborating with Shanxi Province to promote Traditional Chinese Medicine in Africa

On 6 June, GX held a "Medical Team Commemorative Medal Ceremony" in Shanxi for medical personnel involved in the "Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme" in Djibouti. A total of 39 members received Medical Team Commemorative Medals for their contributions. Since February 2023, 5 cohorts of medical teams have conducted eye examinations for 7,741 local patients and successfully completed 4,649 free cataract surgeries. In his speech, Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying praised the foreign aid medical team members as vital forces in promoting the spirit of "sharing" and fostering "people-to-people connectivity".

On the same day, Chairman LEUNG also convened a meeting with the Shanxi Provincial Government to discuss the introduction of registered traditional Chinese medicine patents from Hong Kong to Djibouti, Africa.
