LEUNG Chun-ying and WANG Wen-bin inspect the Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project in Cambodia, reinforcing the dengue fever prevention network for the rainy season
Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying and CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang, Emily, accompanied by WANG Wen-bin, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, conducted a field inspection at Funan Techo Integrated Water Resources Management Project (FTC Project) in Cambodia on July 2. GX also hosted an educational seminar on dengue prevention, which drew active participation from over a hundred local workers and residents. As Cambodia is currently in its monsoon season—a peak period for vector-borne infectious diseases—GX shared its practical experience from recent years in implementing the Cataract Blindness Elimination Programme and Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme across Cambodia, emphasizing the highly effective use of physical interventions to disrupt the transmission risk of vector-borne diseases.
Chairman LEUNG stated that GX has swiftly advanced its prevention frontlines to the vanguard of national strategic engineering projects, safeguarding both infrastructure personnel and surrounding communities. In recent years, GX has proactively implemented Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme in major infrastructure projects along the "Belt and Road", such as the China-Laos Railway and the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway. This initiative not only provides a solid barrier against dengue fever but also injects a warm, non-governmental momentum into the construction of a comprehensive, all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era.
Mr. LIU Zhao-wei, General Manager of the FTC Project, noted that the anti-mosquito equipment provided by GX has yielded remarkable results, successfully maintaining zero dengue infections across the construction sites and camp living areas. Questionnaire data indicated that up to 94% of respondents observed a noticeable reduction in mosquito bites following the installation of mosquito lamps, with the equipment receiving an impressive average efficacy rating of 4.69 out of 5 points. To date, a total of 219 mosquito lamps, 300 bed nets, and 2,000 rapid test kits have been donated to the FTC Project, comprehensively fortifying the public health defense network.
