GX Youth Ambassadors distribute Disaster Preparedness Kits in their first Vanuatu field mission
From April 28 to May 2, a GX team, alongside three Youth Ambassadors and one intern, conducted vital disaster preparedness work in Vanuatu, distributing Disaster Preparedness Kits to the rural community of Saama and surrounding villages.
For our Youth Ambassadors, this represented their first experience with humanitarian field work, allowing them to witness firsthand the realities of humanitarian aid, from preparing emergency kits to engaging directly with communities in need. Over two days of distributions, they assisted in setting up booths and delivering detailed demonstrations to villagers on how to use the supplies effectively to help them sustain themselves during emergencies. The villagers' dedication mirrored our team's commitment – many travelled over an hour through mountainous terrain, while others came representing injured family members unable to make the journey themselves. In total, more than 60 families received these disaster supplies.
Following the distribution, the village chief personally thanked GX and emphasised the kits’ critical role in community resilience. This mission not only provided vital aid but also reinforced the importance of people-to-people connectivity in humanitarian work. GX will remain committed to empowering both the communities we serve and the next generation of humanitarian leaders.
