First visit to Hong Kong by Honduran Ministry of Health post-establishment of China-Honduras diplomatic relations

In June last year, GX launched the "Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever" in Honduras, aiming to combat the local dengue fever epidemic. Recently, a six-member delegation from the Honduran Ministry of Health arrived in Hong Kong to engage in medical and public health exchanges, marking the first historic visit since establishing diplomatic relations with China.

Upon arrival in Hong Kong, they visited various institutions in Hong Kong, including the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Medical Centre, the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care at CUHK, the Centre for Health Protection, and the Fire Services Department. These visits aimed to understand Hong Kong's emergency management model for public health emergencies, providing valuable insights for enhancing Honduras's emergency response system.

LEUNG Chun-ying, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of GX, hosted a welcome dinner and took the delegation to the Peak to enjoy the scenery of the "Pearl of the Orient".

The delegation will visit Beijing next to visit partners such as the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Peking University. They will also tour historical sites like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.

As part of the "Project for Health Protection against Dengue Fever", GX will donate 148,000 rapid dengue test kits, 55,000 bed nets, 6,000 mosquito lamps, 100,000 sticky fly traps, and a large amount of educational materials to the Honduran Ministry of Health.

Since March last year, GX has dispatched four teams to Honduras, with over 60 participants. GX has also established a field office in Honduras with two local staff for project implementation. The project will further deepen student exchanges between China and Honduras in the future.
