In December last year, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the South Pacific Island nation of Vanuatu, causing widespread destruction and leaving many families without basic resources. Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying and CEO Prof. CHAN Ying-yang Emily, who had previously visited Vanuatu for a project inspection tour, recently returned to Port Vila to visit affected communities and distribute disaster relief packages, including emergency blankets, flashlights, and first-aid kits. They also made an urgent donation of medical equipment to Port Vila Hospital upon request.

On February 5th, GX signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the local Health Department to launch a two-year 'National Malaria, Dengue Fever, and Other Vector-borne Disease Control Programme' within the region, making Vanuatu GX's eighth project country. The programme will run from 2025 to 2027, with a pilot phase starting from March to July this year.

GX will donate 10,000 rapid dengue test kits, 75,000 bed nets, 1,000 mosquito lamps, 40,000 sticky fly traps, and educational materials to enhance public awareness about vector-borne diseases and strengthen local public health efforts.
