7 students from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Taiwan University, interned at the project site in Prey Veng province in Cambodia from 24 January to 28 January. This is the Foundation’s first internship tour with cross-strait four region students.
The interns were responsible for triaging the patients at the local hospital, conducting health education, and visiting patients in rural villages, allowing them to experience humanitarian assistance work first-hand and apply the skills they have learned. Chairman LEUNG Chun-ying and Prof. Emily Chan, CEO of GX Foundation also shared with them the value of the work of GX Foundation.
Over 50 university students have participated in the “Field Experiential Learning Program” of the Foundation since 2019. This program was extended to students from well-known overseas universities in September 2023 and to students from Mainland, Macau, and Taiwan this year.
GX looks forward to having more cross-strait four regions youths interested in humanitarian aid joining the volunteer team, fostering the spirit of “mutual sharing” of the Belt and Road Initiative.
