Project launch in Luang Prabang, A New Chapter of Guangxi-Hong Kong Cooperation

GX Foundation has been collaborating with the Health Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and a total of eight batches of medical teams have been sent to Laos and Cambodia for the "Cataract Blindness Elimination Project" since September 2022. The project in Laos is nationwide, and the first four phases were conducted in Vientiane, completing over 2,300 cases of free cataract surgeries. The fifth phase of the project will be relocated to the 107th People's Army Hospital in Luang Prabang, where free surgeries for local patients will commence this month.

After an eight-hour car journey, the GX team arrived at the local hospital on the METC. The fifth cohort of medical teams from Guangxi has arrived on-site to prepare for the mission. Many of them have previously provided assistance in the Laos and Cambodia projects. The Foundation is deeply grateful for the dedication and contributions of the Health Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the medical teams, working together to bring light of hope to cataract patients in Laos.

GX Board member, Dr. Ko Wing Man, CEO Professor Emily Chan Ying-yang and the Director of the Health Commission, Mr. Du Zhen Zong will also visit the site in mid-November and officiate the opening ceremony.
