GX Foundation launches cataract surgery project in 2 West African countries, Heilongjiang and Fujian Provincial medical team to perform 6500 free cataract surgeries

GX Foundation formally launched “The Cataract Blindness Elimination Project” on 9th October and 12th October in the capital city of Nouakchott, Mauritania, and Fatick Region in Senegal in West Africa respectively. A total of 6500 cases of backlog cataract blindness are expected to be eliminated.

Meanwhile, the 2nd cohort of the Djibouti project was launched on 9th October and the Shanxi Provincial medical team, comprised of 8 members, is going to work locally for around a month.

The Foundation officially announced that project team is in full operation in providing free cataract surgeries to patients in 5 countries, including Laos, Cambodia, Djibouti, Mauritania and Senegal, working tirelessly to bring light of hope to countless patients.
