Mobile Eye Treatment Centre arrives in Mauritania, ready for project launch

The “Cataract Blindness Elimination Project” in Mauritania is now ready! After two months of shipping and customs clearance, the Mobile Eye Treatment Centre has finally arrived in Mauritania in West Africa and has been delivered to the local hospital. The first cohort of medical team aiding Mauritania from Heilongjiang province also arrived yesterday, and surgeries are expected to commence soon.

Thanks to the efforts and dedication of all teams, the project can be initiated smoothly. We will hold an opening ceremony locally in early October, which will be attended by Chairman CY Leung, CEO Professor Emily Chan Ying-yang, senior officials from the local government and health ministry officials. GX expects to eliminate the local cataract blindness backlog cases within 18 months, performing 3500 cases of free cataract surgery and bringing light of hope to the patients.
