GX signs MOU with the Ministry of Health and Social action in Senegal

On 4th November 2022, GX entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Health and Social action of Senegal to formally launch the "GX Cataract Blindness Elimination Project" in Fatick Region of Senegal, which is the home of President of the Republic Macky Sall. The MOU was signed by Dr Marie Khemesse Ngom Ndiaye, Minister of Health and Social action of Senegal, and Professor Chan Ying Yang Emily, CEO of GX Foundation. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Leung Chun-ying, Chairman of GX, and  Ambassador Xiao Han of the People's Republic of China.
The Foundation will work with Fujian Province of China to send expert medical teams, to provide free cataract surgeries to the elderly people of the region. In the first phase, 1 Mobile Eye Treatment Centre (METC) will be sent to Fatick Hospital to address backlog cases of cataract. On board the METC, a patient's vision can be restored in 20 minutes. 
GX is excited to expand its work into West Africa, and to work with Senegal to diminish the burden of reversible blindness in the country.
