The working team of GX Foundation, along with a technical consultant from The Asian Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness (AFPB), visited 103 Military Hospital in Vientiane for METC set up planning for the Cataract Blindness Elimination Project in Lao PDR.
The 103 Military Hospital was selected as a pilot site based on accessibility for patients and the availability of technical support to accommodate the fully equipped METC unit.
Following project commencement in Vientiane, the 2 GX METCs will travel to the Northern and Southern provinces of Lao PDR to work towards eliminating backlogged cases of cataract blindness in elderly populations.
