GX Foundation holds press conference in Vientiane to promote its Cataract Blindness Elimination Project and medical humanitarian efforts in Lao PDR

GX held a press conference in Vientiane, Lao PDR on 4th June 2021. The event was attended by representatives of the main Laotian press and online media. GX Chairman, Mr. Leung Chun-ying and GX CEO, Prof. Emily Ying Yang Chan shared the latest updates on the GX Cataract Blindness Elimination Project and the recent GX COVID-19 emergency relief donation program in Vientiane.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and in partnership with expert Chinese medical teams from Guangxi Province, China, GX aims to eliminate the backlog cases of cataract blindness nation-wide on board two advanced equipped Mobile Eye Treatment Centres. The project will begin in the third quarter of 2021 in Vientiane. Other target project locations include Champasak and Luangprabang provinces.  

During the press conference, Mobile Eye Treatment Centre models and samples of materials donated as part of the emergency relief, such as surgical masks, gloves, goggles and face shields, were exhibited.
