GX Foundation launches “Covid-19 Recovery Support Scheme” for families of underprivileged students with a maximum subsidy of $1200 for buying necessities

Since the resumption of in-person classes in the last school year, confirmed Covid-19 cases reported by schools have continued to rise. With the new school year approaching, GX Foundation launches the “Covid-19 Recovery Support Scheme” with an aim to subsidise kindergartens, primary and secondary schools to assist families of the underprivileged students to purchase Covid-19 recovery packages. This includes but is not limited to food, supplements and medications, providing one-week necessities and relief supplies for families of underprivileged students under quarantine or isolation on 30 August 2022. The maximum subsidy for a 2-4 person family is $800, while the upper limit of the subsidy per family is $1200, depending on the number of family members. Interested schools must submit their applications online before applying for the subsidy on behalf of their students. GX Foundation will cover the actual expenses incurred on a reimbursement basis. During the first stage, the quota for the scheme is 500 families on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Meanwhile, GX Foundation will also donate RAT kits to schools for fulfilling the Government RAT’s requirement.
