Local emergency response to COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic is a major global health security challenge for 2020. In addition to the uncertainties associated with the disease and treatment, there has been a significant shortage of medical supplies and lack of support to enhance community and household resilience globally.

As a Hong Kong based Chinese NGO dedicated to international humanitarian assistance, GX foundation joined the local emergency response and health resilience-building efforts. With the support from our project partners – China Communication and Construction Company and Fashion Focus Manufacturing Limited, GX has donated and distributed masks to more than 60 local organisations to support vulnerable population subgroups to combat against the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. Main beneficiaries of the Hong Kong programme included patients in palliative care, individuals with psychiatric disorders, patients and families in low- income families, people who involved in-home care patients, the population in high-risk occupation subgroups such as cleaners and residential security guards.
