To further GX’s international medical humanitarian efforts and solidify a collaborative relationship under GX’s Cataract Blindness Elimination Project, GX and the Health Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region entered into a Memorandum of Understanding in Nanning on 22nd March 2021, signed by GX CEO, Prof. Emily Ying Yang Chan and Director of the Health Commission, Mr. Liao Pinhu. Under this programme, expert medical personnel from Guangxi will travel to Cambodia and Lao PDR to provide quality cataract surgical services free of charge to local populations, restoring the sight of those in need. The ceremony was witnessed by GX Chairman, Mr. Leung Chun-ying and Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mr. Lan Tianli, as well as representatives of GX Foundation, the Autonomous Region government, and the Health Commission. The event was also supported by Guangxi medical teams, the Asian Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness, and the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in China - Guangxi.
